Revised 11/03
GED
Policy for Adult Students
- An
adult student who has taken the GED and provided scores to our school must
have received a standard score on the GED that puts him/her in the 50th
percentile rank in order to waive any LVCA graduation requirements based
on that GED.
- The ES
is responsible for collecting and retaining a copy of the test results
from the adult student for eventual inclusion in the grad packet. In
addition, the ES should create an electronic report card for each subject
area passed, noting a PASS grade.
- Although
the student might have passed the entire GED, he/she will not be automatically
eligible to waive the LVCA requirements for the four growth areas of Reading/writing,
Math, Science and History unless he/she has performed in the 50th
percentile rank or better in each subtest.
- Although the student passes each of the four
growth areas for reading/writing, math, science, and history, the student
must still complete the graudation requirements for life skills, government,
and special interest in order to receive a diploma.
- For
the reading/writing growth area, students must have an average score of at
least the 50th percentile. This score will be found by taking
the percentile rank for the writing test and adding it to the percentile
rank for the literature test and dividing the sum by two.
- LVCA
will not pay for a student to take the GED. This test is not a part of our
school, and we cannot provide it for our students.
